Incident Synopsis
FF’s responded to a report of a natural gas line cut in the 5200 blk of Monroe Rd just after 2:30 pm this afternoon. Upon their arrival, FF’s found an active leak from six gas meters caused by the removal of the copper tubing which was used as a conduit for the natural gas. The tubing appeared to have been cut in several places. FF’s were able to stop the leaks by turning off valves at the meters rendering them inoperable until repairs can be completed by Piedmont Natural Gas. There were no injuries to report, but one business which occupied one of the suites was evacuated. They were later allowed to resume normal business practices after FF’s deemed the area safe.
